A Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) bending machine, also known as CNC Press Brake machine, can bend metal sheets at a particular angle using preset programs between a matching upper punch and die. Keeping abreast with the times, this bending of metal sheets is done by a CNC machine at MEK as a CNC bending machine allows for greater accuracy. CNC Press Brakes can be used for simple bends to fabricating complex parts and structures.
When metal sheets are bent by traditional bending machines, the setting up time is long and tedious and requires several attempts through trial and error to get the correct bend angle. When multiple bends have to be made in a metal sheet, they are done individually by setting the back gauge manually for each bend and then processing the complete batch. After this, the operator moves on to the next bend. This led to a waste of time, human resource and material.
In case of a computerized process in a CNC machine, the bend settings are saved as programs and upper punch and lower dye can be changed quickly using the quick clamping system. Multiple bends are programmed and performed sequentially on the metal sheet. Once all bends are performed on a sheet, the operator moves on to the next sheet.
Thus the computer controlled machine and back gauge automatically sets up for the particular bend, as programmed. The machine is simple to operate and the bending process is four times faster than traditional bending, resulting in quick setup and production times and utmost precision in bulk production.
Today, MEK has the capacity to bend up to 6 mm thick metal sheets including carbon steel and stainless steel to lengths of 6000 mm at required angles.
